Agriculture College For Vizag 29-Jun-2016
VISAKHAPATNAM: Minister for Agriculture P Pulla Rao said that the state government had decided to construct six lakh tonnes capacity godowns in the state. The NABARD would give 95 per cent funds and the rest five per cent would be contributed by the state government, he added. The minister convened a meeting to review the cultivation of horticulture and commercial crops in the district. While addressing the officials, the minister directed them to increase the extent of horticulture and commercial crops in the district. He also said that the government had been examining the possibilities of providing MGNREGS works for the cultivation of the horticulture crops. At another programme held at Anandapuram, the minister said that one of the new agriculture colleges to be started in the state would be sanctioned for Visakhapatnam

Heavy Rain To Continue 28-Jun-2016
VISAKHAPATNAM: The incessant rains for the second day on Monday in the Port City affected normal life. Several low lying areas were affected due to clogged drains. Morning walkers and joggers on the Beach Road had good time in the cool weather followed by showers. In the evening the weather turned cloudy bringing a spell of rain. Taking relief from the hectic work, the denizens enjoyed the evening at the beach. Some areas in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts also recorded normal rain. According to the Cyclone Warning Centre, a low pressure formed over west central and adjoining north west Bay of Bengal off south Odisha and North Coastal Andhra Pradesh is expected to intensify further into a well-marked low pressure. Associated upper air cyclonic circulation, now extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. The trough of low on sea level chart from the system to South Tamil Nadu across Coastal Andhra Pradesh persists. As a result heavy rainfall is forecast for the next two days.

GVMC Office To Run On Solar Power 25-Jun-2016
Visakhapatnam: If everything goes according to the plans Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) will be the first civic body in the state to use solar energy in its office and schools. The civic body in association with AP Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) and New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of AP Limited (APNREDCL) is likely to take up a 111KV-capacity Rooftop Solar Energy project in the city soon.

Special Train Services Extended 23-Jun-2016
The services of special train No.08573/74 Visakhapatnam-Tirupathi-Visakhapatnam, 08501/08502 Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam and 02509/02510 Kamakhya-Bengaluru Suvidha Express have been extended, according to M.Yelvender Yadav, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair Division of East Coast Railway ECoR). Train No. 08573 Visakhapatnam- Tirupati weekly Suvidha express will leave Visakhapatnam on Mondays on July 4, 11, 18 and 25 and on August 1, 8 and 29 at 10.55 p.m. and reach Tirupati the following day at 1.25 p.m. In return direction, 08574 Tirupati-Visakhapatnam weekly Suvidha express will leave Tirupati on July 5, 12, 19, 26 and on August 2, 9 and 30 at 3.30 p.m. and will arrive in Visakhapatnam the next morning at 6.50.
