Visakhapatnam: In a move towards Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and promotion of cleanliness at Visakhapatnam railway station, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Visakha Refinery, came forward to provide refreshing lounge (modern toilet block) under Corporate Social Responsibility. A memorandum of understanding was signed between Railways and HPCL-VR on Tuesday in the presence of Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur, General Manager (HR), HPCL-VR Narisetty Raja Tao, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager G Suneel Kumar, Senior Divisional Engineer (headquarters) David Ralf and Chief Manager (PR) HPCL-VR US Sharma. Visakhapatnam railway station is the cleanest station in Indian Railways among A- 1 category, making it smart station. Shouldering the social responsibility, HPCL, Visakh Refinery, proposed to make Visakhaptnam railway station more environment friendly station and extended cooperation to provide refreshing longue, with the objective to construct hygienic, modern, state-of-the- art refreshing lounge where passengers can refresh themselves with various facilities, including toilets, shower, baby feeding rooms with an estimated cost of Rs 49.5 lakh. Chief Minister has top slot in mind, says Lokesh. has tremendous potential to be the leader in mobile handset manufacturing in the country and the State government is committed to creating a complete ecosystem with design, manufacturing and delivery, according to State IT Minister Nara Lokesh. He was speaking at the State sector session on Electronics - promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in electronics hardware with Andhra Pradesh as the epicentre here on the concluding day of the CII Partnership Summit on Monday. Before 2014, when the present government came to power, there was no mobile handset manufacturing unit in the State. Now out of ten cell phones made every second in the country, two are manufactured in A.P. We want to take the count to five, but the Chief Minister wants to push it up to seven or even eight, Mr Lokesh said. The Minister said clustering approach was the best to promote electronics and many such clusters would come up in the State. A total of 76 MoUs with an investment of 30,058 crore was signed by the State government with IT and electronics firms. Chandrababu Naidu has said. Interacting with officials after inaugurating the City Operations Centre of Integrated Command and Communication Centre on Monday, he said the real time governance practices should be integrated with those of RTG at the State-level. Smart poles He asked officials to study the difference between smart poles and the other poles being used for surveillance cameras and use the best poles in a uniform manner so that they add to the elegance of the city. He said demonetization and GST were two very important and revolutionary steps taken by the present Government and in spite of the initial disruption the long-term benefits justified the steps. Sunrise AP Investment Meet to start in Visakhapatnam from 24 February The Andhra govt expects to sign a targeted 280 MoUs this year in different sectors, and is hoping to generate an investment of Rs 2.51 trillion through the Sunrise AP Investment Meet. The third edition of the Sunrise Andhra Pradesh Investment Meet 2018 will be held at Visakhapatnam from 24 to 26 February. Through the summit, the state government expects to sign a targeted 280 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) this year in different sectors, and is hoping to generate an investment of Rs 2.51 trillion. Prior to this, through the last two summits in Andhra Pradesh, the state government managed to sign 876 MoUs with various companies and got a committed investment of Rs 11.10 trillion. A projected employment of about 2.2 million is expected to be generated through those projects. The numbers were discussed and shown to Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu earlier this month at Amaravati. The estimations for this year were reportedly based on interest shown by corporate companies so far. According to data provided from the chief minister’s office, Andhra Pradesh has attracted 1,817 projects with a total committed investment of Rs 14.89 trillion to employ 3.33 million people over the last three and a half years. Chandrababu Naidu to attend LuLu, GVMC programmes. Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who will be in city to participate in the third CII Partnership Summit to be held from February 24 to 26, will attend the foundation stone laying ceremony for LuLu convention centre on the first day and inaugurate the Command Control Centre at the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation office on Feb. 26. Informing this to reporters here on Thursday, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao who inspected the arrangements for the Summit at the APIIC grounds adjacent to the beach road, said the Summit this time would be much bigger than in the past with several foreign trade ministers, Central and State ministers’ participation. The total number of MoUs were expected to be in the range of 400 for an investment of over Rs.3 lakh crore, he said.The Summits in the year 2016 and 2017 saw as many as 876 MoUs signed for over Rs.11 lakh crore investments and to generate about 22 lakh jobs. Of the total number of MoUs signed, Up to 42.85 per cent of the first year and 10 per cent of last year were under implementation so far, he revealed.

Speaking on the occasion, the VC said though hockey is our national game, most of Indians play Kabaddi which has gained huge popularity in the recent times. President of the Olympic Association, Visakhapatnam T S R Prasad, Olympian M V Manikyalu and former MLA Malla Vijaya Prasad said that kabaddi was popular rural sport and has attracted most spectators after cricket in the country. They congratulated Vizag District Kabaddi Association and Visakhapatnam Port Trust Kabaddi players for organizing the league on the Kabaddi mats in the indoor stadium on the lines of Pro Kabaddi League. Over 14 teams in men’s category and four teams in women’s category from Vizag region are participating in the tournament.
 
VUDA proposes underground parking 20-Feb-2018
CM asks urban body to come out with action plan. Learning from experiences of other Urban Development Authorities in the country after a study tour, VUDA proposes to develop underground parking facilities on a pilot basis. VUDA Vice-Chairman P. Basanth Kumar who went on a study tour along with chairmen and vice-chairmen of other UDAs in the State, later made presentations to Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. On the suggestion of the Chief Minister that VUDA should come out with an action plan, a few proposals were made. The underground parking facility was proposed on the lines of the one developed by Jaipur Development Authority in Rajasthan, Mr. Basanth Kumar said. For thousands of shop-keepers in the Pink City parking was provided underground. It accommodates 1000 four-wheelers and from the parking lot a shuttle is arranged for the shop-keepers, Mr. Basanth Kumar said. Chat Bazar Another initiative that VUDA wants to promote is Chat Bazaar a la Jaipur UDA. Around 25 shops sell snacks and delicacies unique to Rajasthan. It’s government-run, hygienic and aesthetic offering typical Rajasthani cuisine to tourists, the Vice-Chairman said. Copper ware and lounge ware characteristic to Rajasthan are sold there. Visakhapatnam to get a cyber crime lab by March end. The much-awaited cyber crime police station and cyber forensic laboratory might soon turn out be realities in Visakhapatnam. At present the special cell in the II-Town Police station dealing with the cyber crime cases is not adequate, given the complexities of the cases. The available equipment is not capable of pursuing difficult cases. The proposed cyber crime police station and the laboratory will receive assistance from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Thiruvananthapuram,” cyber crime inspector V Gopinath was quoted as saying. It has been learned that the facilities will run from the VUDA Complex near Siripuram on a temporary basis before the authorities finalize the suitable land for the project. Meanwhile, the works for the project have already started. If the plans fall in place, the lab might be opened by the end of March or early April. The lab will possess the latest facilities and advanced tools such as mobile forensic tools, USCD and a few other sophisticated equipment. While the government had given the nod for the setting up of the lab back in 2015, it got delayed due to various invariable reasons. Andhra Pradesh currently depends on the cyber forensic laboratory in Hyderabad. The recent past has seen an increasing number of cyber crime cases being reported from Visakhapatnam.
