Animation and gaming city in Vizag 19-Apr-2018
Gaming, virtual reality and animation city to be set up in Vizag. In what is coming as a heartening news to Vizag, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has approved for establishing animation, gaming, virtual reality and comic sectors in Andhra Pradesh at a meeting with the cabinet. The CM and his cabinet members met at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Monday with an aim to make the state excel in the field of animation and gaming. In this regard, the Animation Visual Effects Gaming and Comics (AVGC) Policy 2018-2020 has been approved by the cabinet.The main objective of the policy is to draw Rs 6400 Crores investment by 2020 which will be used to develop a 40 acre animation and gaming city in Vizag. The government stated that it will grant 25-30% one time subsidy on capital expenditure for hardware and supply 24/7 quality power with an internet fibre line at the AVGC Hub. The cabinet is keen on bridging the gap between the demand and supply of human resources and attract a larger share of work by outsourcing in animation and gaming sector.

CM opens Franklin Templeton Investments office in Vizag. The IT sector in Andhra Pradesh is gathering momentum and Visakhapatnam in particular is bound to emerge as a major fintech hub in the country, according to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He was speaking here on Thursday after inaugurating the office of Franklin Templeton Investments here on Thursday. He said it was a good sign for the city that a major company, a Fortune 500 company, like Franklin Investments had chosen to set up a centre in the city. "The company will invest Rs 450 crores here gradually on setting up the centre and provide 2,500 high-end jobs. Today it has opened the office," he said. He recalled how the company had first set up the centre in Hyderabad in the united AP way back in 2002 and he expressed confidence that the Vizag centre would be even more successful than the one in Hyderabad. Jennifer M Johnson, the president and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company, said the company had immense faith in the Chief Minister "who is the key architect and visionary CM" who built up the IT sector in Hyderabad and is doing so now in Visakhapatnam. She expressed confidence that the Vizag centre would flourish. Retail giant Walmart to soon set 22-Mar-2018
Retail giant Walmart to soon set up store in Visakhapatnam. World’s largest retail store by revenue, Walmart, is set to open up its store in Visakhapatnam. The retail giant will soon be commencing its operations from a store in Gajuwaka. The store is expected to come up in the latter half of 2018, it has been learned. We have acquired roughly four acres near Autonagar on lease and will complete the construction in two months with a built-up area of 56,000 sq ft and parking facility for 150 cars,” Walmart India Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Rajneesh Kumar was quoted as saying on Monday. The store, which is at an advanced stage of construction, will generate 2000 direct and indirect jobs, Mr. Kumar said. While most of the products will be comprised of the produces from local farmers and vendors, the store will also have Girijan produced honey and Araku Valley Coffee, The Hindu Business Line reported.
 
BSNL expands wings 10-Mar-2018
1.46 lakh new mobile customers added to it The public sector mobile service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has attracted 1.46 lakh new mobile customers in Visakhapatnam Telecom District, during the present fiscal (2017-18) till Feb 2. Now there are 7.88 lakh prepaid and 39,000 post-paid customers for BSNL in the district. A total of five new cell towers have been commissioned in the district at Darakonda (Visakhapatnam Agency area), the DSNLU (Law University at Sabbavaram), L & T at Rambilli, Apollo Hospital at Arilova and AP EPDCL at Gajuwaka, principal general manager Nalini Verma told the media here on Friday. The number of 3-G towers has gone up to 258 and 2-G towers have gone up to 348. A total of 50 data towers and 12 3-G towers (voice) would be added during the next financial year. A total of 10 Wi-fi hotspots have been commissioned and 10 more would be commissioned soon. BSNL has also introduced new bulk user Wi-fi hot spot to organisations with a number of access points with a bandwidth of 2, 4, 10 Mbps. The customer has to pay the annual charges for the Wi-fi routers along with the back-haul bandwidth charges. Wi-fi services under ‘international roaming’ were introduced for both prepaid and post-paid customers at Rs 501 for 30 days validity. VUDA to develop IT City at Madhurawada. It will include sporting infra, malls, hotels, multiplexes: Basanth Kumar Further adding to the efforts to create IT space, VUDA has entered into an MoU with the State government in the recent partnership summit to set up an IT City at Madhurawada. VUDA initially wants to create one tower with five lakh sft. But not merely confining to IT, it plans to develop institutional space, with preference to IT, and supporting infrastructure like malls, hotels, multiplex etc in a total of 20 acres, according to VUDA Vice-chairman P. Basanth Kumar. Around 40 US IT companies were keen on conducting business and the US Association itself was showing interest, he said. Mr. Basanth Kumar said VUDA would monetize the land and the investment would come from the companies interested. The government had assured rental guarantee. The AP Urban Infrastructure and Asset Management Limited, joint venture of the State government and IL&FS, would hand-hold VUDA in project management. In the light of the Harita Housing project experience, to avoid any legal complications, VUDA will set up an SPV for the purpose. The SPV would limit its liability to the extent of its equity. Sunrise AP Investment Meet to start in Visakhapatnam from 24 February The Andhra govt expects to sign a targeted 280 MoUs this year in different sectors, and is hoping to generate an investment of Rs 2.51 trillion through the Sunrise AP Investment Meet. The third edition of the Sunrise Andhra Pradesh Investment Meet 2018 will be held at Visakhapatnam from 24 to 26 February. Through the summit, the state government expects to sign a targeted 280 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) this year in different sectors, and is hoping to generate an investment of Rs 2.51 trillion. Prior to this, through the last two summits in Andhra Pradesh, the state government managed to sign 876 MoUs with various companies and got a committed investment of Rs 11.10 trillion. A projected employment of about 2.2 million is expected to be generated through those projects. The numbers were discussed and shown to Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu earlier this month at Amaravati. The estimations for this year were reportedly based on interest shown by corporate companies so far. According to data provided from the chief minister’s office, Andhra Pradesh has attracted 1,817 projects with a total committed investment of Rs 14.89 trillion to employ 3.33 million people over the last three and a half years. DCI Bags Cochin Port Contract 12-Jan-2018
Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) has bagged a contract from Cochin Port worth Rs.85.15 crore through a global tender. DCI has been carrying out the maintenance dredging works at Cochin Port continuously since 2011-12. Cochin Port invited global tender for maintenance dredging for 2017-18 during August 2017 – considered one of the major maintenance dredging projects in India. DCI participated in the bidding process and stood as the lowest bidder with Rs.88.51 crore, thereby successfully retaining the work in its order book for next year. The dredging at Cochin Port is to be carried out throughout the year by deploying two dredgers. DCI is the only PSU in the dredging field in India and is securing all major contracts through open competitive bidding process. The Union Cabinet decided sometime ago for strategic disinvestment of DCI.
