Gupta Event Management (GEM), a unit of Welfare Charitable Trust is organizing a 11-day international trade fair at Andhra University grounds from February 16 to 26. Participants from across the world will take part in the event and exhibit their products. Furniture, home decors, handicrafts, handlooms, kitchen appliances, paintings, trinket jewellery, and cloths are some of the products which will be put up at the grounds.

Women entrepreneurs’ tech hub in Vizag soon. Visakhapatnam: An international women entrepreneurs' trade and technology hub is going to come up in Visakhapatnam on a five-acre land to develop and promote business opportunities among women entrepreneurs of Saarc region. Inaugurating the international conference of women entrepreneurs on innovation, incubation and industrialization here on Wednesday, chief minister Chandrababu Naidu said he would clear the file in a couple of days so that work can commence immediately. He focused on women empowerment and facilitating ease of doing business for them. The trade and technology hub is going to play a crucial role for empowerment of women. Several organisations, World Trade Organisation (WTO), some of the women organisations and ministries are going to come and work with the two organisations - Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of India (ALEAP) and South Asian Women Development Forum (SAWDF). The hub will create wonders in the near future. We will also have an investors' meet next month in Visakhapatnam involving the AP government, Government of India, Confederation of Indian Industries. DCI Bags Cochin Port Contract 12-Jan-2018
Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) has bagged a contract from Cochin Port worth Rs.85.15 crore through a global tender. DCI has been carrying out the maintenance dredging works at Cochin Port continuously since 2011-12. Cochin Port invited global tender for maintenance dredging for 2017-18 during August 2017 – considered one of the major maintenance dredging projects in India. DCI participated in the bidding process and stood as the lowest bidder with Rs.88.51 crore, thereby successfully retaining the work in its order book for next year. The dredging at Cochin Port is to be carried out throughout the year by deploying two dredgers. DCI is the only PSU in the dredging field in India and is securing all major contracts through open competitive bidding process. The Union Cabinet decided sometime ago for strategic disinvestment of DCI.

While ANSR has been allotted 10 acres at Rushikonda for its global in-house centre, Conduent will set up a development centre. Each of them will employ 5,000 in phases. After encouraging response to Fintech Tower developed at Rushikonda, where Paytm and other leading players have launched their operations, Thomson Reuters, Visa and Franklin Templeton have inked MoUs to launch their operations in the city. The inauguration of Tech Hub with plug and play facilities under the designated technology park (DTP) policy at the new building taken on lease from Tech Mahindra, WNS and Patra India, leading BPOs have announced to locate their new units. 3-day CREDAI Vizag expo to open on Saturday. VISAKHAPATNAM, DEC 21: The annual property expo of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India, Visakhapatnam chapter, is to be organised at Andhra University Engineering College Grounds for three days from Saturday. It is the fourth show of the chapter and around 100 developers will showcase 400 projects at the expo, CREDAI Visakhapatnam Chairman G.V.V.S. Narayana has said. At a press conference along with chapter president P. Koteswara Rao, convener of the expo, V. Dharmender and other office-bearers, he said the annual exhibition had resulted in business of Rs. 90 crore last year in spite of demonetization. This year business may cross Rs. 250 crore. Apart from villas and apartments, the show comprises layouts, building materials and interiors. Narayana said prospective customers had adopted a ‘wait and see’ approach after demonetization but that phase was over. With prices of inputs such as steel and cement going up, there would not be any price correction now, he said. Dharmender said in addition to real estate, an automobile and super bike pavilion would be an added attraction. Around a dozen banks will set up their counters to advise visitors on home loans and help customers take an informed decision. Millet Processing Centre Opened 19-Dec-2017
To help make availability of millets as nutrient food to health conscious people and to add value to the produce, a millet processing hub has been set up at Sagaram in Madugula mandal by Vikasa, an NGO, with the financial support of NABARD. NABARD Chief General Manager, Andhra Pradesh, K. Suresh Kumar who inaugurated the processing facility on Monday said it would result in value addition and provide marketing link to farmers produce. He expressed his happiness at Vikasa developing 3000 acres under ‘Maathota’ scheme in tribal areas. He also praised the efforts of Vikasa’s founder P. Viswanadham. Eminent millet scientist N.D.R.K. Sarma, who developed four finger millet varieties expressed concern over millets losing acreage and stressed the importance of improving productivity.
Google X Development Centre 15-Dec-2017
Google X is ready to set up its Development Centre in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, which will be its first development centre outside the United State of America. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Government of Andhra Pradesh and Google X in San Francisco, USA in this regard. The MoU was signed in the presence of Minister of IT, Government of Andhra Pradesh Nara Lokesh and CEO of Google X Astro Teller. Google X will bring its breakthrough Free Space Optical Communication Technology (FSOC) to implement in Andhra Pradesh Fibergrid Project in 13 districts through 2000 FSOC links. Google X is known for developing Waymo (driverless car), Google glass, Project Loon (internet through balloons) and other latest technologies. With Google X coming to AP, the state will see revolution in communication," said Nara Lokesh. He added that the AP Government is committed to bring high speed internet and broadband connections to about 12 million households and 1,30,000 enterprises (government and private) by March 2019.

As a step towards curbing the harmful effects of vehicular pollution, GVMC is all set to introduce e rickshaws into the streets of Visakhapatnam. It is a known fact that the pollution in the city is on the rise and the need of the hour is to adopt newer technologies and measures so as to avoid further repercussions. The details These rickshaws have the potential to run for as many as 100 km after being charged for 7 hours. The fact that it just costs around Rs 20 for this specified charge, might encourage many individuals to adopt this mode of transport. Another incentive that is being offered by the officials to promote e-rickshaws is that there would be no need for registration or a license to ride these eco-friendly carriers. It has also been informed that these vehicles will be priced between Rs 1.30 lakh and Rs 1.80 lakh. While some can be used to carry passengers, others can be utilized to transport garbage or goods. In order to spread awareness among the people, some e-rickshaws glided past the beach road recently. Many residents of Visakhapatnam have hailed this move by the GVMC. They hope that this would do some bit in keeping the pollution in check.
Akriti Elite Expo Gets Under Way 08-Nov-2017
Akriti Elite, a two-day exhibition, was inaugurated at Hotel Gateway here on Tuesday by Femina Miss India 2004 finalist Arti Chakravarti. Expo organizer Sashi Nahata said the expo was aimed at giving a one-stop solution for shoppers with a variety of clothing and artificial jewellery for the festive season of Karthika Pournami and other special occasions. The exhibition showcases designer wear collections and rich craftsmanship of artisans across India. Designers from Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Jaipur and other parts of the country are participating in the expo. As many as 62 stalls are set-up at the expo with exclusive varieties of designer sarees, dress materials, kurtis, fashion and bridal jewellery, Kashmiri silk, Rajasthani bedsheets, Banarasi sarees and accessories, daily care products, home decor, designer bags and footwear. The exhibition will be open on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
