Bill Gates to Visit Visakhapatnam 14-Oct-2017
In what is coming as a heartening news to all the citizens of Visakhapatnam, the co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates is all set to visit the city. Gates, who is also the co-founder of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will participate in the ‘Agri Hackathon’ event that will be organized in Visakhapatnam from November 15 to 17. As per an official press release, Bill Gates will be in the city for two hours. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the ‘hackathon’ event on 15th November. Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Mr. D. Rajasekhar said that Mr. Gates along with the Chief Minister will participate in the event’s valedictory ceremony on the 17th of next month. The Principal Secretary and district collector Mr. Pravin Kumar reviewed the arrangements on Thursday.
 
Petrol Pumps to Remain Shut On 12-Oct-2017
On account of protests by Visakhapatnam petrol dealers, the petrol bunks around town will remain shut on October 13th. All petrol bunks in the Visakhapatnam district will shut down from Thursday midnight to Friday midnight. This information is given out so that you can be fore-warned and prepared. People are queuing up to fill up their vehicle tanks well before the rush sets in. You would want to do the same. So what is the cause of the protest? The lack of transparency in pricing of petrol in the country. The dealers allege that consumers and petrol dealers are being hood winked. The crude oil rates on the international markets are dipping while the prices of petrol etc are rising in the country. A hike of Rs.6 has been noticed in petrol prices over the past 3 months. What they are questioning is the basis for this increase.
 
Blockchain IT Firms to Start Office 11-Oct-2017
VISAKHAPATNAM: Six of the 16 top IT companies that participated in the Blockchain Business Conference have committed to opening their branches in Visakhapatnam. Said a senior government official. The government of Andhra Pradesh had received a lot of proposals from SMEs during the Fintech Vizag Valley event. 60 per cent of the participating companies had come for the first time to Vizag. Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai based start-up SME companies are willing to start operations in Vizag. Government is in talks with 19 companies out of which 6 companies have already committed to opening offices in Vizag. The State Government is also in talks with regulatory bodies like RBI and SEBI with regard to policies. National Stock Exchange (NSE) is planning to open a data centre in Andhra Pradesh. We are excited that the companies see an opportunity in Vizag and are willing to invest.

MoUs with Conduent, Mastercard, Franklin Templeton to be signed. In what is perceived as a major shot in the arm to promote Visakhapatnam into an IT hub, three major IT companies have agreed to open their campuses here . Highly-placed sources told that Conduent Inc., a business process services company with headquarters in New Jersey (United States), will establish the biggest-ever campus of any IT company here.
 
Medical Taxi Service Launched 27-Sep-2017
E-Sahai will be helpful to people with mobility problems, says its founder. People with mobility problems such as differently-abled persons, senior citizens, dialysis patients and post-surgery patients need no longer skip family outings and weekend tours. A medical taxi and ambulance service – e Sahai – launched here on Tuesday promises to care of their special mobility needs. The seat next to the driver’s seat can be rotated 90 degrees outside. A physically challenged person, sitting in the front, can be moved along with the seat, which can be rotated and moved 15 inches outside the vehicle. The wheel chair can be moved close to the seat and the person can be transferred to it, e-Sahai founder and CEO Hari Bharadwaj told the media. This was for the first time that such a facility has been launched in AP and Vizag has been chosen as the pilot destination. As of now we will begin with one taxi and have plans to enhance the number to 25 in the coming days, he said.
 
Dasaravali Tourism Festival at VSP 26-Sep-2017
Visakhapatnam: A six-day tourism festival ‘Dasaravali’ will be held on the RK Beach from September 27 to October 2 on the occasion of World Tourism Day. Announcing this at a media conference here on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister N Chinarajappa said that the occasion is being utilized to showcase the beautiful tourist spots of Visakhapatnam to the world and attract international tourists to the city. “The festival will begin on September 27 at RK Beach on a grand scale. Traditional artistes from various States will display their skills by presenting cultural programmes at the venue. There will be Happy Street programmes from 5 am to 8 pm and cultural programmes from 4 pm to 8 pm every day. The Deputy Chief Minister also said that the Chief Minister has plans to develop the tourism sector in the State in a big way by spending crores of rupees in several districts. Dasaravali is part of these plans, he added.
 
Yamaha Motor Opens Scooter Boutique 21-Sep-2017
VISAKHAPATNAM: Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd is blending fashion and scooters in a way no other two-wheeler seller has done so far, according to Masaki Asano, the Managing Director. He was speaking in the showroom of Vaishnavi Automobiles the local dealer, here on Wednesday after inaugurating a scooter boutique. He said it was the second such boutique opened by the company after the first one in Chennai. He said the boutique would offer a unique buying experience to customers, especially women, as they can buy scooters as well as fashion accessories. He said the company was making inroads in the Indian market, with its fashion scooter Fascino and other attractive variants. With its current market share of 5 per cent in the scooter segment, the company would strengthen its position, he added. Brand ambassador Asha Bhat and Roy Kurian, Vice-President (Sales) also spoke on the occasion. Kurian said the company had set up three modern manufacturing facilities at Surajpur in UP, Faridabad in Haryana and Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu. Dasaradha Ram Reddy the local dealer said no effort had been spared to make the boutique as attractive as possible for the customers.
 
Temporary Licences For Firecracker 20-Sep-2017
Applicants should obtain NOC from fire dept., GVMC, EPDCL. Police Commissioner. T Yoganand on Tuesdays said temporary licences to posses and sell firecrackers would be given to those who fulfill guidelines, He said applicants must compulsorily obtain NoCs from the fire dept., GVMC and APEDCL. According to Mr. Yoganand, applicants can directly approach the Assistant Commissioners of Police under their respective sub division jurisdiction along with applications in form AE5, for the grant of temporary licences to posses and sell fireworks connection with Diwali Festival. Apart from the NoCs, the sit plan for the temporary shop, agreement copy with the owner of the land or building and a fee of 500 paid through treasury challan, should be attached to the application form. The last date for receipt of applications is September 30.

Expressing satisfaction over successful holding of three-day IIA International Innovation Fair, IT Minister Nara Lokesh on Monday said they would continue to pitch for the City of Destiny as an investment hotspot. In his Facebook post after attending the valedictory of the fair attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and other dignitaries, he said We intend to do more such events in Vizag. Mr. Lokesh also expressed satisfaction over Mr. Naidu’s praise for AP Innovation Society for successfully organising the event by bringing several inventors to the city.
 
International Innovation Fair 09-Sep-2017
VISAKHAPATNAM: The three-day International Innovation Fair 2017, hosted by the Andhra Pradesh Innovation Society, begins here on Saturday, according to Chief Executive Officer V. Valli Kumari. At a media conference here on Friday, on the eve of the three-day event, she said representatives from 30 countries would participate in the event being held in the State for the first time after bifurcation. She said the fair would be inaugurated by Alireza Rastegar, President of the International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA). The event would be held at Taj Gateway hotel. She said models from all the 30 participating countries would be on display and "it will give a great opportunity to the local companies and start-ups to access international technologies. There will be a seminar on technology transfer on Sunday in which the State IT Minister, N. Lokesh, will participate." On the concluding day, Monday, three prizes - gold, silver and bronze - would be given by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the valedictory session. Valli Kumari said a hackathon would also be organised from 4 p,m on Friday to 6 p.m on Sunday on citizen-centric services at Sunrise incubation hub at Rushikonda. She said a memorandum of understanding would be signed with the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) by the AP Innovation Society to help the students and startups in the State.
