Vizag to Soon Get E-rickshaws 25-Nov-2017
As a step towards curbing the harmful effects of vehicular pollution, GVMC is all set to introduce e rickshaws into the streets of Visakhapatnam. It is a known fact that the pollution in the city is on the rise and the need of the hour is to adopt newer technologies and measures so as to avoid further repercussions. The details These rickshaws have the potential to run for as many as 100 km after being charged for 7 hours. The fact that it just costs around Rs 20 for this specified charge, might encourage many individuals to adopt this mode of transport. Another incentive that is being offered by the officials to promote e-rickshaws is that there would be no need for registration or a license to ride these eco-friendly carriers. It has also been informed that these vehicles will be priced between Rs 1.30 lakh and Rs 1.80 lakh. While some can be used to carry passengers, others can be utilized to transport garbage or goods. In order to spread awareness among the people, some e-rickshaws glided past the beach road recently. Many residents of Visakhapatnam have hailed this move by the GVMC. They hope that this would do some bit in keeping the pollution in check.
Akriti Elite Expo Gets Under Way 08-Nov-2017
Akriti Elite, a two-day exhibition, was inaugurated at Hotel Gateway here on Tuesday by Femina Miss India 2004 finalist Arti Chakravarti. Expo organizer Sashi Nahata said the expo was aimed at giving a one-stop solution for shoppers with a variety of clothing and artificial jewellery for the festive season of Karthika Pournami and other special occasions. The exhibition showcases designer wear collections and rich craftsmanship of artisans across India. Designers from Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Jaipur and other parts of the country are participating in the expo. As many as 62 stalls are set-up at the expo with exclusive varieties of designer sarees, dress materials, kurtis, fashion and bridal jewellery, Kashmiri silk, Rajasthani bedsheets, Banarasi sarees and accessories, daily care products, home decor, designer bags and footwear. The exhibition will be open on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Gouttephone To Set Up Plant 07-Nov-2017
VIJAYAWADA: Gouttephone Technology Private Limited (GTPL), a Touch Panel manufacturing unit (OGS Technology), has announced to start its operations in Visakhapatnam Industrial Park.Under the first phase, the GTPL Total invest `504 crore and will generate employment to 300 persons. The plant will be setup in collaboration with For Trend Taiwan, leading technology and R&D provider in touch panel category across globe with 19 production facilities by renowned global brands like Apple, Samsung and LG. Representatives of GTPL who called on Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi on Monday, said that they were intending to make India as a hub for Southeast Asian market and also set up a research and development unit. Explaining about various initiatives being taken up by the Andhra Pradesh government for encouraging investors Lokesh said that they are giving the necessary approvals and land for those coming forward to invest in the State.The minister assured to extend all the needed cooperation for completing the Gouttephone.

Vizag drawing more tourists from Hyderabad, says tour operator. The prospective travellers were seen making enquiries at the stalls put by the State Tourism Boards, Destination Management Companies (DMC s), hotel chains and others. The State Tourism Boards of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra , Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Gujarat and West Bengal put up their stalls. The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) put up a stall with the sole objective of promoting the island as a tourist destination. A couple of local men wanted information about hotel bookings in Mauritius but a representative of MTPA told them that bookings could be done only through travel operators or through MTPA websites. We got the maximum inquiries regarding the tour packages available to Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Sri Lanka and Thailand. In the domestic sector, the maximum enquiries were for the package tours to Kerala, Shimla, Manali and Kashmir,” said Ramesh D, MD of DOT Holidays, Vizag.
Suzuki Opens Two Showrooms 26-Oct-2017
Suzuki Motorcycle is making concerted efforts to increase its share in the Indian 2-wheeler market and emerge as the brand of customer's choice, according to managing director Satoshi Uchida. He was speaking here on Wednesday after inaugurating two showrooms in the city - one at Gajuwaka and the other at Muralinagar. He said the company was also focusing on exports from the country. Prabhu Kishore chairman of Varun Group, the local dealer said all models of Suzuki scooters and motorcycles would be available in the showrooms and women could also learn driving, as free driving classes would be conducted. Vinod Kumar executive director of Varun Group, Hari Prasad general manager of Padmaja Suzuki and others participated.
City to Host Tourism Investors Meet 25-Oct-2017
It is being held jointly by AP Chambers and AP Tourism Department. The quick clearance of project proposals and simplification of procedures is expected to ensure the finalization of at least a few projects at the ‘Regional tourism investors and stakeholders meet’ to be held in the city on Oct 27. The State government is keen on developing Visakhapatnam as tourist capital of Andhra Pradesh by tapping the tourist potential of Visakhapatnam, AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (APCCIF) president G. Sambasiva Rao and its Tourism Sub-Committee chairman K. Lakshminarayana told the media here on Tuesday. The government was also keen on exploring the tourist potential of other regions in the State and Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya had a series of meetings with APCCIF, popularly known as AP Chambers, to aggressively promote tourism in the State. On the Minister’s suggestion, APCCIF in association with AP Tourism Department was organizing the regional meets.
Bill Gates to Visit Visakhapatnam 14-Oct-2017
In what is coming as a heartening news to all the citizens of Visakhapatnam, the co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates is all set to visit the city. Gates, who is also the co-founder of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will participate in the ‘Agri Hackathon’ event that will be organized in Visakhapatnam from November 15 to 17. As per an official press release, Bill Gates will be in the city for two hours. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the ‘hackathon’ event on 15th November. Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Mr. D. Rajasekhar said that Mr. Gates along with the Chief Minister will participate in the event’s valedictory ceremony on the 17th of next month. The Principal Secretary and district collector Mr. Pravin Kumar reviewed the arrangements on Thursday.

Blockchain IT Firms to Start Office 11-Oct-2017
VISAKHAPATNAM: Six of the 16 top IT companies that participated in the Blockchain Business Conference have committed to opening their branches in Visakhapatnam. Said a senior government official. The government of Andhra Pradesh had received a lot of proposals from SMEs during the Fintech Vizag Valley event. 60 per cent of the participating companies had come for the first time to Vizag. Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai based start-up SME companies are willing to start operations in Vizag. Government is in talks with 19 companies out of which 6 companies have already committed to opening offices in Vizag. The State Government is also in talks with regulatory bodies like RBI and SEBI with regard to policies. National Stock Exchange (NSE) is planning to open a data centre in Andhra Pradesh. We are excited that the companies see an opportunity in Vizag and are willing to invest.

Highly-placed sources told that Conduent Inc., a business process services company with headquarters in New Jersey (United States), will establish the biggest-ever campus of any IT company here.
