'Major players see exciting opportunities in the city’ The focus on attracting big ticket projects to Visakhapatnam is expected to bear fruit with several IT majors evincing interest in setting up their campuses in the city. The top brass of Infosys hinted at the possibility of establishing a 23,000-seater campus in the city provided the government extended all the required support. When contacted, AP Economic Development Board CEO J. Krishna Kishore said road shows and investor meets held in India and abroad evoked a good response from global companies. He, however, did not name any firm that had committed any major investment in the near future.
Surgical Unit Opened at Cancer Hosp 30-Jun-2017
The surgical unit of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC) was inaugurated by Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman M.T. Krishna Babu on the third floor of VPT Golden Jubilee Hospital at Salagramapuram here on Thursday. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Krishna Babu emphasized the need for tackling the major disease of cancer, because of high incidence. He also expressed satisfaction over treatment being extended by Tata Memorial Institute in this regard. Mr. Krishna Babu also assured the community of VPT that it would be very helpful in the near future.
3 Day Architecture Interior Show 24-Jun-2017
50 firms showcasing their products. From digital lockers, large-sized tiles, the latest introduction, designer swimming pools to furnishings, the 14th edition of Architecture, Interiors Expo-2017 has them all. Inaugurating the three-day show at Hotel Novotel, Lok Sabha member K. Haribabu said bringing together all construction materials and interior designs would help take up construction in a better manner. The show is being organised by Indian Insitute of Architects (IIA), Visakhapatnam Chapter, in association with the Institute of Indian Interior Designers. Around 50 companies have set up 70 stalls showcasing their products. Architecture students of Andhra University, Varaha College of Architecture and Planning and Planning and Gitam School of Architecture and AU Department of Fine Arts have set up stalls showcasing project work and paintings and sculpture.

The camp was conducted in association with doctors of Pradhama Hospital. P. Ramesh Babu, senior divisional manager of LIC, inaugurated the camp.
OP Service At Sankar Eye Hospital 20-Jun-2017
Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital at Naiduthota has started a new premium out patient service at its Main Hospital. The new OP wing was inaugurated by managing trustee K Manimala and executive trustee A Vijay Kumar. Ms. Manimala said those opting for premium OPD would indirectly support the services being offered for the poor. A dedicated team of doctors and an optometrist are being nominated to treat these patients in a separate section, according to CEO K. Anand Sudhan.

It will connect manufacturers with retailers in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana. With an aim to connect retailers of AP and Telangana and manufacturers in textile industry across India under a single platform, city based startup Texfy is launching its B2B (Business-to-Business) e-commerce marketplace from July. Founded by Raghunath Penumarthi, Akhil Teja Dandamudi and Srinivas Reddy Yarragudi, the startup is being mentored under NASSCOM’s 10k startup programme at its warehouse set up at Sunrise Incubation Hub, Rushikonda.
Vizag Port Second Cleanest In India 24-May-2017
After Vizag bagged the third cleanest city and the railway station bagged top rank in terms of sanitation, it is now the Port’s turn to lay up the tag in the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan. Visakhapatnam Port has been declared the second cleanest port among 12 major ports by the Union Shipping Ministry. Haldia port which was ranked first is only 30 marks ahead to VPT. In response to the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementation of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, the Swacchata Pakwada programme was conducted from March 16 to 31 in VPT striving for cleanliness. During Swatchta Pakwada the Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, shipping, chemicals and fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya visited VPT on March 18. He personally participated in the beach cleanliness programme and appreciated the efforts taken by VPT in up-keeping cleanliness in the various areas of VPT and also its surroundings.
Vizag Port to Be Modernized By 2019 22-May-2017
VISAKHAPATNAM: If everything goes as planned by the Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) authorities, modernization of port will be complete by 2019. Addressing the media in the city on Sunday, VPT chairman MT Krishna Babu said, The modernization of VPT includes increasing container trade doubling capacities of inner harbour, modernize berthing structures setting up multi-modal parks free trade zones provision of clean cargo and improvement of rail and road connectivity inside the port. Once the modernization project is complete the port's handling capacity can be augmented to 135MT (million tonne) from the existing 98MT. The project is estimated to cost Rs 5,000 crore, but only 50% of the works are completed so far," he added.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Retail showrooms in the city have started selling two-wheelers with the Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) feature that was mandated by the government from April. A Srinivas chief executive officer of Varun Bajaj two-wheeler showroom at Siripuram Junction, said "As per the new BS-IV guidelines, all upcoming motorbikes are being manufactured with the AHO provision like the 'Daytime Running Lamps' found on cars. We have sold nearly 2,000 such vehicles in the city. The new rules have been framed as per international standards and many European countries have implemented it since 2003.
