Soon apple cider, lager, wheat and ale beers will be served in the city as Iron Hill brewery is getting ready to throw open its doors to denizens ahead of Christmas.

A franchise of Prost Brew Pub which has already made its presence in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, Iron Hill plans to offer four flavours of fresh brews to those wanting to take a break from the daily grind. With a 5,000-litre storage capacity, managing partner of Iron Hill microbrewery Teja Chekuri said at a conference held on Thursday that depending on the consumption and season, fruit and lemon infused flavors will also be served to the consumers from the bright beer tanks.

This is the first microbrewery of the brand coming up in a Tier-II city like Visakhapatam and we are expecting 6,000 litres of consumption a month here. Each brewing process goes through various stages such as milling, mashing, boiling, cooling and fermenting before it(the beer) is served.

Franchise partner Sriharsha Tripuraneni said the demand for craft beers were rising in India and the microbrewery aims to cater to those who like to sip fresh flavours.

With yeast used for fermenting, the basic ingredients incorporated in brewing a beer include malt, hops, barley, wheat and water in different variations.

The two-floored microbrewery spread over 8,000 sq. ft. and 180-seating capacity is coming up at Siripuram beside Dutt Island.

As a part of its expansion plans, the microbrewery will be launched next in Vijayawada in January.
