Much to the relief of the people living in some areas of Visakhapatnam, the Agricultural Marketing department has launched mobile Rythu bazaars in the city.

Be it from an industrial perspective or from the tourism point of view, the city of Visakhapatnam is growing day by day. However, contrary to the city’s growth, the number of Rythu bazaars in it hasn’t increased. The bazaars which were set up in the year 2000 are still the only ones to be existing. Currently these exist in the areas of MVP colony, Seethamadhara, Akkayapalem, Madhurawada, Gopalapatnam, Marripalem, Kancherapalem, Pendurti, Gajuwaka, Steelplant, Mulagada, Pedagantyada, and Peda Waltair.
Feast For Cricket Lovers in City Posted on 08-Sep-2017
Good amount of cricket is in store for the cricket buffs of the city. The city will host five ODI’s between India A and New Zealand A from October 6 to 15. While Vijayawada will host two four-day matches from September 23 to 26 and from September 30 to October 3. The ODIs will be held in Visakhapatnam on October 6, 8, 10, 13 and 15, according to an official press release from BCCI. This apart Team India will clash with the Asian rivals Sri Lanka in an ODI in December this year.

VISAKHAPATNAM: The three-day International Innovation Fair 2017, hosted by the Andhra Pradesh Innovation Society, begins here on Saturday, according to Chief Executive Officer V. Valli Kumari. At a media conference here on Friday, on the eve of the three-day event, she said representatives from 30 countries would participate in the event being held in the State for the first time after bifurcation. She said the fair would be inaugurated by Alireza Rastegar, President of the International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA). The event would be held at Taj Gateway hotel. She said models from all the 30 participating countries would be on display and "it will give a great opportunity to the local companies and start-ups to access international technologies. There will be a seminar on technology transfer on Sunday in which the State IT Minister, N. Lokesh, will participate." On the concluding day, Monday, three prizes - gold, silver and bronze - would be given by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the valedictory session. Valli Kumari said a hackathon would also be organised from 4 p,m on Friday to 6 p.m on Sunday on citizen-centric services at Sunrise incubation hub at Rushikonda. She said a memorandum of understanding would be signed with the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) by the AP Innovation Society to help the students and startups in the State. Expressing satisfaction over successful holding of three-day IIA International Innovation Fair, IT Minister Nara Lokesh on Monday said they would continue to pitch for the City of Destiny as an investment hotspot. In his Facebook post after attending the valedictory of the fair attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and other dignitaries, he said We intend to do more such events in Vizag. Mr. Lokesh also expressed satisfaction over Mr. Naidu’s praise for AP Innovation Society for successfully organising the event by bringing several inventors to the city.

Visakhapatnam: Transforming Education for Humanity (TECH)-2017 will be organised in the city from December 16 to 18 under the aegis of UNESCO and Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP). AP HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said: “We organised with success mega events such as IFR, Partnership Summits, Disaster Management and E-Governance. TECH-2017 will assume similar significance. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate it. Union HRD Minister Prakash Javdekar will attend it. AS many as 250 delegates from 71 countries will participate in the three-day conference,” he said, adding that Ministers of nine countries and 50 ambassadors will be there.

Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas inaugurated a dialysis unit and an Intensive Respiratory Care Unit (IRCU) at the King George Hospital (KGH) here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Srinivas said that the KGH was catering to not only patients from North Andhra districts but also those from neighbouring Odisha and Chattisgarh States and hence top priority was being given to provide modern high-end medical equipment and appointment of full-fledged doctors and staff nurses and employees. He said 20 dialysis units were being provided at the KGH under public-private participation jointly by the Central government and Nephro Plus. While 14 dialysis units were already installed, the remaining six would be provided soon. He commended the KGH administration and staff for doing more work with less staff. KGH Superintendent G. Arjuna and Andhra Medical College principal P.V. Sudhakar were present.
