On account of protests by Visakhapatnam petrol dealers, the petrol bunks around town will remain shut on October 13th. All petrol bunks in the Visakhapatnam district will shut down from Thursday midnight to Friday midnight. This information is given out so that you can be fore-warned and prepared. People are queuing up to fill up their vehicle tanks well before the rush sets in. You would want to do the same.

So what is the cause of the protest? The lack of transparency in pricing of petrol in the country. The dealers allege that consumers and petrol dealers are being hood winked. The crude oil rates on the international markets are dipping while the prices of petrol etc are rising in the country. A hike of Rs.6 has been noticed in petrol prices over the past 3 months. What they are questioning is the basis for this increase.
Chandrababu Naidu to Visit Vizag Posted on 13-Oct-2017
Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will be in city on October 17 to lay the foundation stone for the Rs.113 crore flyover bridge at Naval Armament Depot Kotha road Junction leading to the city airport, and the TU 142 aircrat museum at the beach. He will also participate in the Ananda Deepavali programme to be held on the beach road in the evening.

Nandamuri Balakrishna is always known to extend his support for creating awareness on cancer among people. He is chipping in to support cancer patients through his non profit cancer care hospital Basavatarakam Indo American hospital. He also takes part in various fund raising events in US quite often. Now, the star actor is going to lead a massive awareness walk to be held in Vizag on the 28th of this month under the organisation of Life Again foundation. South actress Gautami is the founder of this non profit organisation which involves in several awareness campaigns leading the fight against the lethal disease. Several political bigwigs and few others stars from Tollywood will lead this walk in Vizag.

In what is coming as a heartening news to all the citizens of Visakhapatnam, the co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates is all set to visit the city. Gates, who is also the co-founder of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will participate in the ‘Agri Hackathon’ event that will be organized in Visakhapatnam from November 15 to 17. As per an official press release, Bill Gates will be in the city for two hours. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the ‘hackathon’ event on 15th November. Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Mr. D. Rajasekhar said that Mr. Gates along with the Chief Minister will participate in the event’s valedictory ceremony on the 17th of next month. The Principal Secretary and district collector Mr. Pravin Kumar reviewed the arrangements on Thursday.

Security cameras at 10 city junctions, Visakhapatnam plays CCTV safe. Visakhapatnam bats for safer streets and surveillance with security cameras at 10 important junctions and a total of 1600 CCTV to be fitted across the city. Taking an example from other cities Visakhapatnam plans on increasing surveillance across the city. 1600 CCTV security cameras are being procured to be set up all around. This project is not included in the Vizag smart city plan. It’s a separate project which is being financed by the state government. The company which has been entrusted with this task is Matrix, which is a Hyderabad based company. The feasibility study for this is underway. The integration of the CCTV security cameras will be with the command and control center which will work at optimum capacity. Matrix company is getting all the help from traffic police officials regarding the types and places that require maximum surveillance. Highlights –
The 1600 security cameras will include, surveillance cameras, red light violation cameras, facial recognition cameras and pan tilt zoom cameras. 10 important junctions to be covered for surveillance. Now, scan and pay bills from home. The ‘Scan and Pay’ feature enables merchants to accept electronic payments without the need for an EDC or a POS machine. Visakhapatnam: Now, the denizens of the port city can scan the quick response (QR) barcode with their mobiles and pay for the LPG, electric bills, and civic body services and at tourist locations too. Moreover, the state government is considering mandating digital acceptance through amendments to the AP Shop and Establishments Act to ensure more and more people opt for the digital payment platform. As facilitating swiping machines at the payment points or the delivery boys carrying and using them were not proving out to be convenient, there were not many takers as expected for the digital payment initiatives. The ‘Scan and Pay’ feature enables merchants to accept electronic payments without the need for an EDC or a POS machine. Any bank card holder can use this feature. The facility is being extended under Vizag Digital Dhan Sankalp (VDDS) project, an initiative of the Andhra Pradesh government in association with Visa to develop Visakhapatnam into India’s first “less–cash” city. Chandrababu Naidu to lay stone for unique flyover at NAD. Visakhapatnam: The chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will arrive here at 4 pm on Tuesday and lay foundation stone for Rs 113 crore flyover at NAD Junction. He will also lay foundation stone for TU 142 aircraft museum, open VIP lounge at the airport and participate in Diwali programme at RK Beach along with the challenged children. The government entrusted the flyover work to the city-based Vijay Nirman Company giving a directive to complete the project in two years. The rotary mode separator flyover is one of its kind in the country. This will put an end to the traffic chaos at the NAD Junction in the city. Similarly, the TU 142 aircraft museum is also one of its kind in the country. The aircraft after decommissioning was handed over to the State government in the presence of Chief Minister at INS Dega on April 8 this year. The aircraft was dismantled and brought to beach by road. Located close to INS Kurusura submarine Museum, this is likely to draw 3,000 visitors in a day. Later he will inaugurate the VIP lounge in the Airport premises. The State government provided 1,000 square yards and it was built at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. The lounge is built in 4,200 square feet. The centrally air-conditioned lounge can accommodate 300 people. Other than meeting hall, the lounge will have chief minister’s chamber, ante room, pantry and toilets.
