Visakhapatnam will host the Andhra Pradesh youth men and women boxing championship from January 7 to 9 at Railway Stadium, according to release from Andhra Pradesh Boxing Association secretary Ravi Raju here on Wednesday.
Bouts will be held from light fly (49kg) to super heavy (+91kg) categories. Pugilists born on or after January 1, 1999 are eligible. The organisers are providing free lodging & boarding to all boxers and officials. Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is going to Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts on Friday to participate in the Janmabhoomi-Maa-Vooru program will make a transit halt here.
As per the schedule the Chief Minister will arrive here by a special flight at 10.15 am to leave for Rajam village in Srikakulam district by a helicopter at 10.20 am.
After participating in the programme he will leave for Dwarapudi village in Vizianagaram district to participate in the Janmabhoomi–Maa-Vooru to be held at 3.15 pm from where he will reach Vizag airport at 6.15 pm to leave for Gannavaram at 6.20 pm.
55 community toilets modernized by retrofitting to set an example.
A series of measures have been taken to help the city do well in Swachh Bharat Survekshan having achieved fifth rank in all-India rankings in 2015.
Swachh Survekshan team will conduct the survey this year from January 7 to 9.
Ahead of the survey setting an example in the State 55 community toilets were modernized by retrofitting Municipal Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan said here on Thursday.
Visakhapatnam received three awards of the State government in cleanliness on October 2.
Visakhapatnam: Standing tall at 120 metres from the sea level India’s tallest tower is coming up atop Kailasagiri Hills in less than one year.
The tower will offer a panoramic view of the sea, city and surrounding areas.
Mumbai-based Bombay Amusements Ltd, the promoters of the project is partnering with Hyderabad-based Swarnamukhi EXIM Pvt Ltd to execute the project.

An array of colourful kites dotted the skyline providing a grand spectacle to those who visited the Beach Road on Sunday. The kite festival organised by Rotaract Club of Vizag Metro as part of Sankranti festival evoked an encouraging response. Several organisations are planning to hold similar events in the next few days.
