Another Womens Police Station 11-Nov-2016
Visakhapatnam: With the port city desperately in need of another women's police station, the city cops have sent a proposal to the state government to set up another such station in the outskirts. At present, women are forced to travel from distant areas to the existing women's police near the commissionerate in One Town area to lodge their petitions. To enhance services to women in marriage disputes and provide counselling to couples, the city cops planned a second women's police station. City police commissioner T Yoganand has sent the proposals to the director general of police of AP N Sambasiva Rao. If the proposal is accepted, then the new women police station would be set up at Gajuwaka area sources said.
Police Crack Whip on Autos 09-Nov-2016
After pondering upon for days the police finally cracked the whip on the auto-rickshaw drivers in the city on Tuesday. The traffic police have seized as many as 328 autos that were found violating the norms and for negligent driving. Following the crackdown, number of auto-rickshaw drivers with the support of their unions staged a massive protest at the Maddilapalem junction on Tuesday evening. The traffic police department deployed a number of teams at various junctions such as Maddilapalem, Asilmetta, Jagadamba and Hanumanthuwaka junctions and Zoo Park to seize the autos.

Vizag security council will be set up to establish a single point of contact between industries other organisations and law enforcement agencies and act pro-actively in case of need Police Commissioner Gondwanaland has said. The setting up of the council was a consequence of implementing A P Public Safety (Measures) Enforcement Act 2013 that was enacted after a series of bomb blasts in Hyderabad, he said at the inaugural of India Fire and Security Yatra-2016 organised by Fire and Security Association of India. Any organisation where more than 100 persons work or place they gather would be brought under video surveillance with access control and periodic inspections with a scrutinizing committee monitoring it, he said.

The force will be the first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh The city is one among the leading tourist destinations in the State. Apart from religious tourism, the beaches have been a major attraction both for domestic and international tourists. To make the stay of the tourists hassle-free and give them more protection, the city is all set to have an exclusive tourism police station with a dedicated force under the commissionerate. This will not only be the first of its kind in the State but also in the country. There is a dedicated tourism police force in Goa, but this is under the control of the Department of Tourism and not under the Department of Home. Similarly, there is a small detachment in Kochi, Kerala, but it is not a full-fledged police force with a dedicated station, says Commissioner of Police T. Yoganand.
Rape Accused Arrested 28-Apr-2015
The Gajuwaka police on Monday arrested two persons who were involved in the rape of a 15-year-old minor girl. The accused were identified as Perla Appa Rao alias Siva (23), an ITI student and Garikina Nallamaharaju alias Chanti (23), an auto driver. Inspector of Gajuwaka, M. Appa Rao said that the minor-girl, a class-VIII student of a private school was raped on April 23, afternoon, by Siva. The girl who was the only daughter of her parents, was earlier a resident of Jalaripallipalem of Gangavaram, moved to the One Town area in the city.
