Downpour, cricket add to denizens’ 05-Jun-2017
Downpour, cricket add to denizens’ Sunday cheer. Visakhapatnam: Vizagites breathed a sigh of relief as heavy rain lashed the port city on Sunday morning. Nothing could have been better than waking up to the sounds of thunder on a weekend. Moreover, the India-Pakistan IIC Champion's Trophy match added to the cheer. "I usually wake up late on Sundays, but today the weather was so inviting that I went for a drive with my family along the Vizag-Bheemili Beach Road. It was sort of a picnic for us thanks to the cool weather, else we would have to stay put inside air-conditioned rooms," said V Sumanth, a software professional. T Poojitha, an MBA student who also loves photography, said, "The pleasant morning weather took me to the beaches for photography. After a very long time, I enjoyed a pleasant weather in Vizag." The beach-going crowd also increased in the evening as many preferred to be outdoors instead of staying cooped in malls and multiplexes. But, there were also the cricket buffs who won't miss out on a single over of the match. Srikanth Sathpathy, a public sector employee and a cricket enthusiast, said, "India's total score (319/3) in 48 overs is quite encouraging. It wouldn't be a cakewalk for Pakistan to reach that total tonight. So far, the day has been good. But what can be a better way to conclude than with a victory over Pakistan. We friends have gathered at one place to watch the match and hopefully celebrate India's victory late night."
