Taking another step to realise its dream of Andhra Pradesh Fibre Grid, the state government will enter into an agreement with digital networking giant Cisco India to provide Internet connectivity to every household in Andhra Pradesh by 2018.
The government and the Cisco India will sign the agreement during a meeting scheduled to be held between Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Cisco executive chairman John Chambers along with Cisco India and SAARC president Dinesh Malkani, in Visakhapatnam on March 17.
Though initially the project was estimated to cost `5,000 crore, the CM has suggested use of the power poles for surface network of the grid. The government plans to provide high-speed broadband Internet connectivity at `100-150 a month. Efforts are on to provide 10-20 Mbps connectivity for all households, commencing June.
